reassessment

if I could recreate myself,

I would have wild, shiny blue hair
a leather jacket and sleek, black leather gloves
a belt of white diamonds

the one everyone knows and no one sees

I would leap across my stage at night
from building to building

leaving nothing but shadowy whispers and starlight behind

and in the mornings, I would
hide myself in steam
red roses and velvet pianos--

jazz notes fluttering in the air—

and read poems to myself, very
very quietly

(Poetry Friday roundup here.)

That's so beautiful! I'm not such a poetry lover normally but I really liked that. I'm glad I stopped by :)

Thanks for joining the Poetry Friday gathering today-- and for sharing your words. Love that other persona, too!

Just weird enough. I grinned at the screen when I got to the end.

This is beautiful, and so is something else: that part in Maya's book, in the preface, where your soul is captured as well.

I loved that.
