All of the stories are wonderfully told and manage to convey a message in about 20 pages. Each one subtly brings up a different ethical value such as good sportsmanship and perseverance, but the theme of compassion and kindness is present in every story.
I read this fairly quickly and enjoyed it; some of the stories are a little old since this book was published in 1995, but they are interesting all the same. Children from ages 9-12 will most likely enjoy this, but there's something in here for everyone.
